Trilobite Me

Trilobites were marine arthropods which thrived during the Cambrian period and occupied oceans for over 270 million years. Their fossil record is both prolific and widespread, with over 20,000 different species being identified and specimens being found on almost every continent. While this record gives us insight into the vast array of variation among these creatures and the immense prevalence they held in the prehistoric world, it gives us no indication of the inner workings of inter-species trilobite relationships or the diversity of color or pattern presentations between individuals. Using a combination of glass sculpting techniques and color applications I am imagining alternative interpretations and challenging standard perceptions we hold about trilobites and other creatures that we have limited knowledge of.
