Meilland Floribunda Rose Rouge Meilove

This work is made entirely of borosilicate glass, specifically the colors used are Northstar's Cherry, Northstar's Canary and Glass Alchemy's Orange Juice for the petals along with green stem made from Northstar's Forest Green. It was my sincere desire to produce a miniature replica of an Orange Meilove Rose (The Latin name for the Orange Meilove rose is Meilland Floribunda Rose Rouge Meilove). The technique used is called 'Compression'. The basic principle is that you lay glass on the back of a glass disc and use pressure, heat, and gravity to push that glass into the disk. I have made many roses of a variety of different colors and though it was tempting to go the traditional route of a standard Red Rose I found myself gravitating towards a different color pallet. I was happy with all of the flowers I made but none of them felt quite right until I found the Orange Meilove, matching as best I could to that color gave me the most joy. This rose, while somewhat unusual, is entirely natural and a local resident to our lovely planet earth.
