Erythronium americanum - Yellow Trout Lily
15 x 5.5 x 1.5 Flameworked borosilicate glass Yellow Trout Lily, Erythronium americanum. I created this sculpture in the spring of 2020 by picking a single flower off my property and bringing it into my studio to use as a example. I sculpted the botany glass model to be as accurate as possible in size, shape and colour. I did not dig the roots, instead I researched the proportions and shape of the root system.
On the East Coast of Canada the Yellow Trout Lily is one of the first signs of spring. Inspiration rooted from the legendary Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka to create this sculpture.
This piece was made to be displayed by mounting on the wall, but it can also be displayed on a plinth.
