Isabella - Nasturtuums
Carolyn Baum

This piece is inspired by the tribute to Isabella Stewart Gardner at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Every April the museum hangs living nasturtiums from the balconies of the Venetian facade down into the courtyard of the museum. Isabella was an astute collector of fine art and a strong patron of the arts. I dedicate this sculpture to her memory and inspiration. Nasturtiums were her favorite flower and thus I used them as my inspiration in creating the sculpture.
The sculpture is created using lampworked glass petals, forged aluminum leaves and a hand hammered metal crown.
