Cape Sundew, Drosera Capensis
Jean Dominique Bebak
Swedesboro, NJ United States
Cape sundew is a small carnivorous plant in the drosera genus. They capture and devour small insects using leaves covered in hairs tipped with sticky nectar. These leaves ensnare insects that land on them and then slowly curl around them to be digested. The plant is lampworked borosilicate glass showing several leaves in various stages of capturing flies. The base is a small terracotta dish with soil media preferred by carnivorous plants.
Protective cloche and base are commercially manufactured.
